Sights
nature reserve Middenduin
East of Overveen and south of the Bloemendaalse Zeeweg you will find the nature reserve Middenduin. Middenduin is part of the National Park
Zuid-Kennemerland and is open daily between sunrise and sunset free of charge. There are regular excursions in the dunes of Middenduin. Het IVN Zuid-Kennemerland geeft regelmatig excursie's

Amsterdamse Waterleiding Duinen
The Amsterdamse Waterleiding Duinen is located in an area between the towns Zandvoort, Bloemendaal, Noordwijkerhout and Noordwijk and is one of the largest dunes of The Netherlands.
The dunes, which came into existince between the 11th and the 18th century, are rich of plants and animals. The Amsterdamse Waterleiding Duinen cannot be accessed by
bicycle but there are several walkings routes starting at every entrance. More information...(Dutch)
Country estates Leyduin and Woestduin
The country estates Leyduin, Woestduin and Vinkenduin are located in a forest area of 111 ha. Leyduin, built before 1596, is the oldest estate.
The estates can be visited from sunrise until sunset.

Museum De Cruquius
The retired steam pumping-station "De Cruquius", built in 1849, is now an industrial monument and museum. From 1849 until 1852, the Cruquius, along with two other
pumping-stations, pumped dry the Haarlemmermeer and afterwards kept the polder dry. The pumping-station was taken out of action on the 10th of June in 1933.
A year later, the pumping-station was turned into a museum. More information...
Recreational area Spaarnwoude
Between Amsterdam, Haarlem and Velsen you will find the 3.000 ha large recreational area Spaarnwoude.

Hekslootpolder
The Hekslootpolder is located between Haarlem and Spaarndam. Spaarndammerpolder. The meadows in the polder are not accessible but there is an historical

Ruïne van Brederode
Around 1282 the construction of the Castle of Brederode was started. The construction was completed within ten years. In 1351 the castle got badly damaged
and was torn down. Reconstruction of the castle started in the middle of the 14th century. It is believed that the castle was again destroyed in 1426 and
only partially restored in 1461. Spanish soldiers plundered the castle and set it on fire in 1573. It was not restored again. The ruines can be visited
from March until November on Tuesdays through Sundays from 10h until 17h.

Eat & drink
Kraantje Lek
In the Brouwers kolkpark in Overveen you will find Kraantje Lek. It is open for drinks, lunch or diner from 11h in the morning.
Theehuis Cruquius
Cycling Rondje Haarlem you will see a sign reading 'Veerpontje' after crossing the bridge in Heemstede. If you follow these signs, you will arrive at a ferry
that can take you accross the Ringvaart during the summer. The ferry stops right in front of Theehuis Cruquius were you can stop for drinks, lunch or diner.
To resume Rondje Haarlem you can either let the ferry take you back accross the Ringvaart or you can follow the Ringvaart and take the first bridge accross.
Restaurant de Molenplas
From restaurant de Molenplas in Haarlem you will have a nice view of the Molenplas and Floriade. During the summer and every weekend, the Molenplas is open as of 11h in the morning
for drinks, lunch and diner.
De Zoete Inval
At the end of Liewegje, you will see Hotel/Restaurant De Zoete Inval. De Zoete Inval is open daily for drinks, lunch or diner.
Spaarndam
Spaarndam has several restaurants and bars where you can eat and drink. Espacially in the summer you can enjoy one of several terraces along the water.
